Attapulgite, also known as palygorskite, is a hydrated, magnesium-rich layered silicate mineral. Due to its excellent physical and chemical properties such as adsorption properties, colloidal properties, carrier properties and reinforcement properties, it is known as the "soil with a thousand uses, the king of all soils". It is widely used in chemical industry, metallurgy, building materials, medicine, agriculture, energy, environment, biology, bionics and many other fields. Natural attapulgite has a high moisture content and needs to be dried before further use.
Attapulgite dryer is a kind of mechanical equipment that uses heat energy to reduce the water content of materials. The equipment is a drum structure, with anti-stick drum wall and assembled material-cutting board design. It has low noise, little pollution and good drying effect.
Uses of Attapulgite:
1. Decolorization material
Attapulgite is a highly efficient decolorization material, which is widely used in the decolorization and refining of beverages such as edible oil, beer and juice. Its unique adsorption properties can not only effectively remove color, but also remove aflatoxin, a strong carcinogen in microorganisms and vegetable oils.
2. Desiccant for packaging
Attapulgite mineral desiccant is widely used in the packaging field due to its natural adsorption properties. This desiccant has countless honeycomb pores, a large surface area, and a moisture absorption rate of up to 23.38-27.43%. It has stable quality, wear resistance, temperature resistance, fire resistance, resistance to various solvents, and is inert in the working medium.
3. Feed additives
Attapulgite has multiple functions in feed additives and has positive significance for the development of new breeding industry. First, attapulgite is rich in trace elements such as iron, selenium, calcium, and magnesium, which helps to promote the nutritional balance of animal feeding. Secondly, its adsorption capacity allows the nutrients in the feed to exist in the animal intestine for a long time, thereby improving the feed utilization rate and animal nutrient absorption efficiency. In addition, attapulgite can regulate the ammonia content in the gastrointestinal tract of animals, prevent ammonia poisoning, and supply synthetic amino acids and proteins, thereby improving the utilization rate of total amino acids. Finally, attapulgite clay powder is used as an additive and carrier for pellet feed, which has good bonding force, can improve feed utilization and save food.
4. Building decoration
Attapulgite has multiple applications in the field of building decoration. First, it can be combined with other fiber materials to make mineral wool sound-absorbing panels, which not only have fireproof and decorative functions, but also have the characteristics of heat preservation, energy saving, sterilization, sound absorption and air purification. Secondly, the Maya blue pigment formed by the composite of attapulgite and organic dye molecules such as indigo can be used as a pigment for artworks and for the restoration of ancient buildings due to its acid and alkali resistance and aging resistance, further enriching its application in building decoration.
5. Soil remediation material
Attapulgite is an effective soil remediation material, especially suitable for the restoration of soil contaminated by heavy metals. Its strong adsorption capacity and rich internal pores enable it to accommodate soil nutrients and adsorb molecules that cause soil pollution, thereby inactivating these pollutants. Attapulgite adsorbs heavy metals in a variety of ways, including ion exchange, ion complexation, electrostatic adsorption, nanopore fixation, and the formation of hydroxide microprecipitates. In addition, attapulgite has a strong affinity with water molecules and can be evenly mixed with pretreated soil to achieve the purpose of treating heavy metal-contaminated soil.
6. Wastewater treatment
Attapulgite has significant application potential in the field of sewage treatment. Its excellent adsorption, high porosity, and large specific surface area enable it to effectively adsorb and remove a variety of polluting elements in water, such as Pb, Ni, Cr, Cu, As, N, and P. In addition, attapulgite also has cation exchange properties, which can treat wastewater containing heavy metal ions such as Cd2+ and Pb2+ to ensure that it meets the discharge standards. More conveniently, the treated attapulgite is easy to separate solids and liquids, providing a new way to remediate water pollution.
In addition to the above, attapulgite has many other uses. After being processed by the attapulgite dryer, attapulgite is maximized. If you are interested in the equipment, please contact us.
