However, natural quartz sand has a high water content and many impurities, can't be used as photovoltaic grade quartz sand directly. Therefore, it must first be dehydrated and impurities removed. Benefication: The photovoltaic industry has high requirements for the quality of quartz ore, it requires high silica content and low levels of impurities.
Crushing: Large pieces of quartz ore are crushed into smaller pieces using a crusher for later grinding.
Grinding: The crushed quartz ore is placed in a grinding mill and ground to a certain fineness(also called quartz sand).
Washing: The quartz sand is washed to remove surface impurities, this step ensures the purity and quality of the quartz sand.
Screening: The washed quartz sand is screened using a classifier to remove too large or small particles, thus obtaining quartz sand with uniform particle size.
Magnetic Separation: The screened quartz sand is then passed through a magnetic separator to remove impurities, meeting the requirements for photovoltaic quartz sand.
Drying: The qualified quartz sand is dried to reduce its moisture content. Industry data shows that when the moisture content of the finished product is below 0.3%, the yield of photovoltaic-grade quartz sand can typically be improved by about 0.5%–1.5% for every 0.1% reduction in moisture content.
Quartz sand dryers can control the moisture content of finished quartz sand to below 0.3%, meeting the moisture requirements of the photovoltaic industry.
The dried quartz sand particles remain loose, which helps improve grading accuracy and improves finished product quality. This is particularly important for the large-scale production of photovoltaic-grade quartz sand.
During the melting of photovoltaic silicon materials and the manufacturing of quartz crucibles, residual moisture can cause bubbles, inclusions, and structural defects. Quartz sand dryers, through uniform dehydration, greatly reduce the quality risks caused by moisture, providing a stable raw material base for downstream high-temperature processes.
