Silica sand is a hard, wear-resistant, chemically stable silicate mineral. Its main mineral component is SiO₂, also known as quartz sand. It is milky white or colorless and translucent in color. It has high fire resistance, so silica sand is used in many industries to increase material performance. The freshly mined quartz sand has high humidity and needs to be dried first.
Silica sand drying requires the use of a special silica sand dryer. The silica sand dryer was developed by Jiutian Company based on the characteristics of silica sand. The temperature and time during the drying process are strictly controlled. After the wet silica sand is put in from one end of the dryer, the material is evenly distributed and dispersed in the dryer under the flipping of the plate lifter evenly distributed in the inner cylinder, and fully contacts with the hot air, which speeds up the drying heat transfer and transfers it to the driving force. During the drying process, the material moves in a controllable manner under the action of the inclined lifting plate and hot air flow to the star-shaped discharge valve at the other end of the dryer to discharge the finished product.
Silica sand has a wide range of industrial applications after drying:
1. Application in glass: Depending on the silica sand content, purity, and chemical composition of the glass, silica sand can be used to make different types of glass, as well as glass instruments and daily utensils made of glass, such as glasses, glasses, and microwave turntables. , mobile phone screen, etc.
2. Application in ceramics: The whiteness of ceramics has a very important impact on the quality of ceramics. In order to improve the whiteness, some silica sand can be added to the ceramic raw materials, and adding silica sand can also reduce the drying time of the ceramic body. It avoids cracks caused by too slow drying. At the same time, adding silica sand will make the surface peeling of the ceramic disappear. Therefore, the addition of silica sand improves the quality of the ceramic to a great extent.
3. Application in casting: Silica sand has special physical properties, such as thermal shock resistance and high hardness, so it is widely used in the casting of mold cores, molds, etc.
4. Application in aerospace: Because silica sand has good piezoelectric effect, high insulation, corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance and other properties that other materials do not have, it has very important applications in aviation and aerospace.
5. Construction applications: Silica sand is most commonly used in construction. For example, when building houses and roads, adding a certain proportion of sand to cement and concrete can make walls and roads stronger and prevent the occurrence of cracks. When silica sand is used in construction, there are certain requirements for the particle size. For example, when building a house, the sand needs to be sieved evenly before mixing with cement. Therefore, there are certain requirements for the physical properties of silica sand.
6. Other applications: used as abrasive materials such as sandpaper and gauze; adding silica sand to plastics can improve the wear resistance of plastics; quartz optical fiber made of silica is the skeleton of the information highway; used in laboratories Quartz cuvettes, quartz crucibles, etc.
Jiutian silica sand dryer is also used to dry various types of sand, ore, kaolin and other materials, with many models. If you are interested in our equipment, please contact us.
